Helical coils are used for heating or cooling in process tanks. Experimentation/Learning Objectives

• To compare Pressure drop in helical coil with that in a straight pipe of same length, inside diameter and surface roughness.

Utilities Required

• Electricity supply: 1 Phase, 220 V, 50 Hz AC, 5-15 amp combined socket with earth connection. Earth voltage should be less than 5 volts.

• Floor Area: 1.5 m x 0.75 m.
