Description The set-up is used to study a photo catalytic reaction using a UV source provided in the form of an UV tube. This set-up can be used to carry out a parameter study under batch/continuous flow condition. A photo catalyst like TiO2 can be used. This set-up can also be used to study the mineralization of liquid effluent industrial streams & for purification of water. The set-up consists of reactor with inside reflecting surface. An UV source surrounding glass/quartz cylinder is placed centrally in the reactor.

(Approx.) ••Flow circulation : By Peristaltic Pump (1No.) ••Control panel comprising of : Standard make on off switch, Mains Indicator, fuse, power supply to UV source etc. ••Sampling points are provided at inlet & outlet of reactant line. ••An ENGLISH instruction manual consisting of experimental procedures, block diagram etc. will be provided along with the Apparatus. ••The whole set-up is well designed and arranged on a rigid structure painted with industrial PU Paint.
Experimentation/Learning Objectives••To calculate the first order rate constant for the photo catalytic oxidation of formic acid.
Utilities Required••Electricity Supply: Single Phase, 220 V AC, 50 Hz, 5-15 Amp combined socket with earth connection. Earth voltage should be less than 5 volts. ••Floor Area Required: 1.0 m x 1.0 m •Instruments, Laboratory wares and Chemicals required for analysis as per the system adopted.
